The Human Stain Initial Reaction

At first, I was really drawn into the reading of the book because the author got my attention by starting out talking about Coleman's affair with the cleaning lady.  As the first bit of the book went on, my attention span went in and out.  I thought the part when the narrator talked about how Coleman changed the school he worked at (Athena College) was interesting. The racism part took me back a little bit and surprised me because Coleman had never even met the kids before so he was not aware that they were black.  I'm not sure how i feel about the style of reading.  I found that the sentenced were long and the authors ideas were dragged out too much.  But so far, I am interested in reading more and learning about Coleman;s story and what happens.
